Laid to Rust – Wallace Bay, Nova Scotia – July 2022
The picturesque Wallace River, once home to numerous quarries, lumber mills and ship building yards, now sees little traffic. A perfect place to retire a beloved old work horse.
During their fifth grade, Oxford Elementary school mates, B. Calder and S. Whalen each broke an arm. (Ice and monkey bars were involved) 40 years later, S. Whalen is a respected professional photographer living in Cumberland County, Nova Scotia. His photos of the Pugwash Lighthouse inspired his old school mate to once again dabble in painting. Thank you, S. Whalen, for inspiring me!
B Calder began professionally painting in 2021, after being forced to retire due to a disability called Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN). She has been a cottager on the Northumberland Strait for over 50 years and dreams of one day making it her permanent home.
